After spending a little time in Thailand this year and planning to head back very soon, NOISE ‘N’ VISUALS has developed a tight friendship with the Thai heavy music scene- especially Bangkok.

So if you whether you have dipped your toe into the Thai music scene or are coming in completely new, we decided to compile a list of bands that we feel haven’t quite got the attention they deserve yet.

Carry On

If you are more hardcore inclined, than Carry On should have been on your playlist yesterday. One of the mainstays holding the torch for Thai hardcore, the band is one of the tightest and most impressive bands in the scene. With energetic live shows, hard hitting music and an all-around tight set, this band is a must check out if you can. Have a listen to their latest EP Impermanence.

The Creation of Adam

This band is starting to pop-up everywhere across the bills as support and headliners across Bangkok and beyond. Dabbling in a range of deathcore, metalcore, hardcore and other heavy genre influences, this young band is quickly making a name for themselves. Their recent release Look At My Feet is definitely worth a listen so you can hear for yourself what they are all about.

G6PD

Now this band is one of Thailand’s best kept secrets. Hailing from Chiang Mai, this band has been instrumental in the Thai metalcore scene for a while now. Fusing classic metalcore elements like catchy riffs, crushing breakdowns and an overall just heavy sound- you will instantly be drawn into their aggressive but melodic style. We suggest starting with All Eyes Under God and working your way back through their discography.

The Rocket Whale

If you’ve been following NOISE ‘N’ VISUALS for a while now, you know we cannot resist slipping in a little emo/post hardcore into these lists and one band we cannot get enough of is The Rocket Whale. One of the longer running bands in the scene, these guys have stuck around and curated a sound that will have us elder emo’s relieving the nostalgia while still sound super fresh. Their album from 2017 Reverie is a regular listen in the NNV office, but their latest single ‘REPEAT, REWIND’ is also a banger.

TERESA

Back to the ridiculously heavy, for you deathcore connoisseurs out there, TERESA is worth keeping an eye out for. If you have had the pleasure of seeing them live, you can back us up- this band is disgustingly good. Impressive vocal range, machine-gun drumming and just straight up brutal everywhere else- don’t sleep on TERESA. For you anime fans, their track ‘Zeke Yeager’ is sure to grab your attention- but their whole discography should be consumed immediately.

Defying Decay

This one band that is hard to describe. They flick between genres and don’t follow any arbitrary rules for their music, but one thing is for sure, you will always have a good time at their shows. They have been able to get of Thailand and play across the world, but we think they are still slipping under the radar a little. With a strong following in Thailand, they have some big things planned for 2025 so check them out now. This year they dropped the single ‘MEANiNGLESS!’ which is one of their most mature releases yet so that is the best place to start.

UGOSLABIER

Dipping between post-hardcore, metalcore and just straight up metal- UGOSLABIER are not just a band, they are a force to be reckoned with. With a cult-following particularly across South East Asia, they have had their head down and working hard on delivering not just intense music, but tight and stellar live shows. Giving us a couple of singles this year like ‘Tear Up The Cage’ with their new frontman, this era of UGOSLABIER is sure to be hectic.

There are so many bands bursting through and making an impression in the Thai heavy music scene right now, so this is just a few of the bands we’ve had the joy of being introduced to this year. Perhaps we could do a part two soon?

Let us know who else readers should check out!

Also, what country should we introduce you to next?
