There is A LOT going on in the Bangkok heavy scene right now- so buckle up because the Thailand content is going to be coming at you hard and heavy for the next few months.

On the agenda for this weekend is a celebration of Asian Metal- RAMPAGE FEST.  Boasting a lineup that really taps into ‘ASIAN METAL PRIDE’- we will be heading over this weekend to check it out for ourselves.

Even if you are unfamiliar with acts, if you are even a little interested in heavy music and are looking for something different to do while you are in Bangkok- come on down to The Street Hall (The Street Ratchada) on Saturday the 22nd of March.

Now, let’s get acquainted with the line-up.

PROMPTS

If you are a regular NNV reader or just know about the Japanese metal scene, then chances are you have come across PROMPTS. This Japanese/Korean band (based in Tokyo) and signed to Australia’s Greyscale Records is currently one of the hottest acts in the Asia region. Just dropping their latest single with The Plot In You’s Landon Tewers, ‘Stranger’, the band is ready to take Thailand by storm as the headliners for RAMPAGE Fest.

Cyclamen

Also from Japan, are the ever enduring Cyclamen. Their brand of technical progressive metal, with mathcore leanings is nothing short phenomenal. Furious and techy riffs and such a signature sound, created and curated by virtuso Hayato Imanishi. Always delivering in their live shows and never failing to astound- we are very keen to catch Cyclamen this weekend.

麥琪麥琪MakeMake

These metal queens from Taiwan have been making a name for themselves across Asia, showing up at range of different festivals. Winning the hearts and ears of every audience they play in front of, their almost gothic infused metalcore sound is not to be underestimated. Vicious vocals, heavy riffs and fun stage presence- they are sure to impress.

District 105

Another band you may be familiar if you are a regular NNV reader, the formidable beatdown metalcore band District 105 from Vietname. The Saigon heavy music mainstays have made quite a name for themselves over the years with their in your face aggression and constant evolution. Going from strength to strength, the band will also be dropping new music the day before the show- so you know that this set is going to be something special.

NOW FOR THE LOCALS…

While the lineup boasts some formidable Thai acts as well- so let’s get to know them.

Stray Wolves

Thai metalcore is full of hidden gems and one of those is Stray Wolves. One of the more senior bands in the scene, they’ve been holding it down for awhile now and they are not slowing down. Giving us a real nostalgia in their particular brand of post-hardcore/metalcore, and trust us, there are no shortage of breakdowns.

Uglosabier

Another Thai mainstay, Ugoslabier has been revitalised and is absolute wrecking shop across the scene at the moment. Absolutely ferocious live shows, the post-hardcore greats will make the ticket price worth it alone.

ADORA

It can’t be all crazy breakdowns and spin kicks, and Thai-Japanese band Adora will be there to deliver a set that may be sonically softer, but will still have you moving. Funky, fun and feel good, their inclusion is most welcome.

DEADKAT

Let’s face it, we all secretly (or not so secretly) like a bit of idol metal and DEADKAT combine super styling, great moves, gorgeous voices and driving metalcore like no other. Another band to get your boogie on to (along with a good head banging session).

The Creation of Adam

We’ve covered these guys a few times at NNV and we will never stop! Making their presence felt across Bangkok, the energetic deathcore hyper metal fusion act will hit you with a wall of sound unlike any other.

Depressed

Bangkok beatdown kings Depressed are not here to mess around. With over ten years in the game, this band has been holding it down. Fight music at its best, get ready to be absolute crushed by their heavy riffs and violent breakdowns.

Fordecision

Thai hardcore is on something else at the moment and Fordecision is one of the best representations of this. Coming off the release of their latest EP Through The Shadows, if you plan to throw down with them, better stretch because their pits go hard.

Crusher

Speaking of Thai hardcore, Crusher are one band that has harnessed that nostalgic 90’s hardcore sound and brought it strongly into the modern era. With melodic guitars and just straight up non-nonsense breakdowns, what a way to start the show.

With tickets still available and cheaper bought in advance, get them before the show to save!

You can purchase them here (yes, even if you are a foreigner/coming from overseas)

For more information you can check the ticketing site, or head to Loudly Prefer Thailand‘s Facebook or Instagram.

Hope to see you there (and in the pit!)
