Can you believe we are half way through the year already?
Ridiculous.
Anyway, it’s been a pretty heavy week for the Asia Pacific Metalcore Scene- but instead of dwelling on the negatives, let’s look forward and check out some of the new bangers that have dropped the last two weeks of June.
Empathize- Fuck Around And Find Out feat. Huynh Huy
Let’s start off with some real tough hardcore straight out of Saigon. If you need something to spin kick too, then Empathize will always have you covered. Two-step worthy grooves, nasty choruses and of course, a great feature by District 105’s Huynh Huy.
Feel The Pain- Heart To Heart
Feel The Pain are one the most-promising Aussie hardcore acts kicking around at the moment. Groovy as hell riffs, heavy breakdowns and just a that real punchy attitude that reminds you why you fell in love with hardcore in the first place.
KNOSIS- Tanebi
It really feels that KNOSIS are not making us wait for the album by dropping so many singles. ‘Tanebi’ (previously titled ‘Haibura‘) has been a hot demand from fans across the world, undergoing many improvements. The final recording is out in the world and she’s a stunner.
Modern Guns- Drift Away
Indonesian post-hardcore Modern Guns is a refreshing sound to any emo hearts. ‘Drift Away’ is a pretty little ditty that sounds like a soundtrack to a coming of age indie movie, in the best way.
麥琪麥琪 MakeMake – I Never Really Had You
We are keeping with the theme of songs in your feels. Taiwan’s 麥琪麥琪 MakeMake are capturing hearts by making us want to heal them with this gorgeous more indie ballad vibe of a single. A little bit of a different direction for the normally metalcore act, but everybody has to show their soft side once in awhile. (Don’t worry, there are still some growls, blast beats, a breakdown and sick guitar solos) Plus the music video is cute as hell.
Eight Count- Repeat Offender feat. Gravitate
Alright back to the hardcore bangers, this time from Frankston hardcore band Eight Count. Aussie hardcore is in such a great place right now and bands like Eight Count and Gravitate are continued proof of that. Short, sharp and shiny- this track is goes hard.
DRAGDOWN- Termination
Some more old school style metalcore from Japan? Don’t mind if we do! DRAGDOWN have riffs upon riffs, breakdowns upon breakdowns and some great vocal dynamics. If you haven’t got around this band, now is your chance.
Parallel Horizons- Formless
If you like your more progressive modern metalcore, then Parallel Horizons from Hong Kong may just what you are looking for. Their latest single ‘Formless’ is a great place to start. Simply ethereal soundscapes combined with prog-grooves, they are definitely a band that can weave themselves into the fabric of modern metalcore.
Stepson- Venom
Australian bands have been very busy lately, dropping bangers left and right. The latest from Stepson is no exception. A hectic drop that will have you resisting the urge to throw down in public, ‘Venom’ is NASTY.
We had a long one this week, so if your favourite track didn’t make it onto the list then we are sorry! We may have missed it.

It is very easy to get caught up in the negative moments that happen in our scene, so in order to keep building, let’s show some love and get behind our local communities in the Asia Pacific Region.
