Not to long ago, Perth hardcore act Pincer+ made their much awaited return to our playlists with the track ‘Hard2Kill’. Well, they are back with a second single ‘Blue Light Overdose’ and an album announcement to go along with it!

Who You Are When No One’s Around is the band’s much anticipated debut album. With this new release, Pincer+ will be digging into themes of isolation, guilt, anger and that space between feeling everything and feeling nothing. Essentially, it is about what’s left when the noise stops and you’re stuck with yourself.

“It’s about losing control, pulling yourself apart, and trying to figure out who you are,” says the band. “We found the title felt like a way to tie it all together – it’s a question for us as much as anyone else, about facing the parts of yourself that only show up when no one’s watching.”

The new album signals an evolution for Pincer+ as well. Following lineup changes that saw Jaiden Higgon step in on vocals and Isryan Shah on bass, the band made the decision to embrace a clean slate.

While we wait, the band have given us another glimpse of what is to come with their newest drop ‘Blue Light Overdose‘. Which, according to the band, is “written from a place of hate and utter disdain for those who continue to take, while providing no real benefit to anyone. It’s definitely one of the more aggressive and to-the-point songs on the album, and the closest in sound to our older material.”

Along with the previous release ‘Hard 2 Kill’, both tracks will be on the new album- which will be released to the world on Friday December 12th through Greyscale Records/1126 Records.
