Alright everybody, last year we got you ready for Good Things with a festival survival guide that focused on the day.
So to change it up a little, I, NOISE ‘N’ VISUALS founder and seasoned traveller is not just breaking down my curated core music must sees for Good Things 2025, but I am also sharing some of my festival survival tips and travel hacks.
This is the first collaboration of NNV and Alt Girl Travels, where I share advice as somebody who has dedicated their life to travelling for music experiences.
Seatbelt light is on, so strap in and read on.

TRAVELLING TO GOOD THINGS FESTIVAL FROM INTERSTATE?
If you are like us in the NOISE ‘N’ VISUALS team, a lot of us do not live in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane. So if we are planning to go, we are going to be travelling. For those who are still on the fence about making the trek over or are very last minute planners- here are some tips to save some money.
Getting To The Cities: Look for alternatives to flying
Chances are, if you haven’t booked your flights yet, they are going to be a little expensive. So if you have time, but not money, there are some alternative options.
For instance, buses run between cities and often service some country towns too. Adelaide people, you can catch the Firefly Express overnight and if you don’t mind hitting the festival on a little less sleep, then you can arrive in Melbourne in the morning. There are also rails and other coaches that can get you where you need be.
Or if you have a few friends, split the costs, get a car and have yourselves a little road trip!
Our best advice though is to get on it ASAP, because everything will start to book out or prices will go up!
Accomodation: Hostels and other ideas
One good thing (no pun intended) about travelling last minute is sometimes you can find some hotel/hostel deals. Sites like lastminute.com.au and others have offers available.
A con though is accomodation, particularly around the festival venues and the CBD will be expensive. Hostels are not so much a cheap option anymore, but they do tend to be cheaper than hotels. If you are travelling in a group, see if a full dorm is available (say 4 travellers = 4 person dorm) so at least you can all take up the room.
Make sure though you are reading reviews on the website and Google reviews, because even if you are trying to save money, there are some sketchy places and you still want to be safe.
Making The Most Of It: Sideshows, After Parties etc
If you want to make the most of your travel, then why not also hit up a sideshow! While some are sold out, there are plenty still with tickets to spare. Check it out here to see if you are able to make any. Good Things 2022 is still a highlight for me where I got to see Electric Callboy and Jinjer at their sideshows in small venues. Now look how big these bands are!
There will also be After Parties for each of the festivals, so check out the Good Things socials for more information closer to the day.
If you are only there for a short trip or an after party is not really your thing, then Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane have some great late night offerings- especially the weekend in the summer! Just make sure you do your research before you are stumbling out of the festival wondering where on earth you should go.

SUMMER FESTIVAL SURVIVAL TIPS
Last year, I attended Good Things festival in Brisbane. As somebody who has covered numerous festivals in South East Asia in their hottest parts of the year, I thought I was ready for Brisbane weather. Boy was I wrong.
Whether you are attending in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane, it is still important to be prepared for the hot weather. Despite the outside temperature too, the UV can be NASTY.
So here is what I always have in my bag for a Summer festival:
- Sunscreen: as a very pale person, my advice is to reapply after every band! (Make sure the brand is good too- don’t learn the hard way by getting 1st degree burns like I did)
- Powerbank (or 2): It is a long day and you will be taking photos, filming etc. So don’t let your battery run out.
- Small wallet/purse: Bring your ID, Medicare card (you never know what will happen) and bank card (just in case the WIFI is down or your phone dies)
- Portable Fan: One tip I learnt from Japanese summers is battery operated portable fans (I also carry a hand fan). A true lifesaver, especially standing around and waiting for a band. Kmart are selling them at the moment!
- Sweat Towel: Another thing I picked up from Japan. Bands often sell muffler towels and these make great sweat towels. You can tie them to bag straps as well.
If it is going to rain, one thing I purchase before is a poncho, but that just depends on the weather forecast.
Make sure you check the Good Things socials on what you can or cannot bring in. Tell us what is your festival bag!
Remember to stay hydrated, be responsible when drinking alcohol and know your limits! (When your Garmin/Apple Watch/fitness device tells you that you are overheated, listen a little.)
Also, keep an eye on your friends!
WHERE WILL YOU FIND US AT GOOD THINGS FESTIVAL
Okay, here is the important part.
What acts will we be catching at Good Things 2026?
You will find me at Melbourne, nice and early and ready for a huge day. I’ve been training my cardio for this exact moment.

The only issue with a stacked lineup is that you have to miss so many other acts. I would love to clone myself to also catch Fever 333, Cobra Starship and Gwar (along with so many others).
Again, let us know who you will be seeing!
So that is a wrap up on the GOOD THINGS 2026 Survival Guide.
Let us know your travel, festival and other tips to get the most out of what is going to be an amazing day.
Remember, tickets are not yet sold out- so get in quick because they will!
Head to the GOOD THINGS FESTIVAL website to stay up to date
(and get your tickets if you haven’t yet)
