It’s been a little while since we have done one of these, so let’s catch up with some of the new music that has dropped over the Asia Pacific the last few weeks.

Graupel- ‘Beloved’

One of the most loved acts in Japanese metalcore announced their return at the end of last year after a lengthy hiatus. With their comeback shows selling out almost instantly, there was no doubt new music was on the horizon. Their newest single, ‘Beloved’, is here, and the band have not missed a beat. Crushingly heavy and hitting us with an absolutely brutal sound, it’s a huge welcome back for Graupel.

The Gloom In The Corner‘You Didn’t Like Me Then (You Won’t Like Me Now)’

The last tease before their new album Royal Discordance, drops next week, The Gloom In The Corner once again shows off their sonic diversity with this latest drop. The Melbourne cinemacore mavericks stay true to their concept-driven roots, giving us another part of the ever-growing lore behind their music. We never know what The Gloom In The Corner is going to hit us with next, but we are once again very thoroughly impressed with this offering.

Acacia Catechu- ‘Divided City’

Another band making their way up through Thailand’s underground heavy metal scene, Acacia Catechu are hitting us with some powerhouse old-school metalcore riffs and breakdowns. Their brand new single ‘Divided City’ captures this. A relatively new band in the scene, they are quickly making their mark and are sure to be one to watch going forward.

Fornicaras- ‘Colorfade’

Indonesia’s metalcore scene is full of gems, and one of those is Magelang modern metalcore band Fornicaras. Their latest release ‘Colorfade’ captures what the band does best: djent/prog riffs, melodic structure and the wonderful balancing of vicious and stunning vocals.

Akta- ‘Solitude’

We told you we were going across the Asia Pacific, and for this one, we are stopping in Malaysia. KL natives Akta continue to drop heat, and their latest single, ‘Solitude’, is no exception. Filled with modern metalcore goodness and some nasty bleughs, this band may actually be one of the most slept-on in Southeast Asia. Truly taking that modern metalcore sound and forging their identity forward, make sure you check out Akta.

Parallel Horizons- ‘Exile’

The melodic and emotion-drenched music of Parallel Horizons is something to always marvel. These skilled musicians from Hong Kong are always pushing their sound forward, dipping into a huge sonic palette with every offering. ‘Exile’ is no different. It is climatic and epic, a full-bodied release that will leave you a little breathless.

Gai- ‘Ladder Climber’

Dipping now into more beatdown territory, Hanoi’s Gai have been making their presence felt since they first burst onto the scene. ‘Ladder Climber’ once again solidifies the bands place as one of the powerhouses of the emerging Vietnamese scene, so make sure you give this one a spin.
