We are only a week out from Rock Alarm Festival, which is being held in Bangkok next weekend and we are getting excited!

The lineup has dropped, the timetables released and the early bird tickets gone- it’s time to plan your day or at least plan your way to this massive two days of heavy music. Showcasing not just some of the finest bands in Thailand, there are a few international acts that are also worth checking out.

Here is who NOISE ‘N’ VISUALS are planning to check out (trying our best- unfortunately clashes happen).

RASaturday

Day One- Saturday 14th of September

For us, we have to start our day at the Machine Stage with Teresa. These insane deathcore masters have been on our radar for a little while now and since their release of their single ‘Lord of Blood’, we have made it our mission to ensure we catch these guys. From the Machine Stage over to the Factory Stage, Japanese band Earthists have our endorsement. Their energetic brand of hyper metalcore will have the crowd moving early, a little dancing and a lot of moshing.

Now not exactly metalcore, but we caught Bad Baboon last month and so you will most likely find us again catching them. A little funk, a little nu-metal and a whole lot of good sound, they are the perfect band to get you in the festival stage. They will be joining Tariot from Singapore over at the Machine Stage, so you best bet we will be hanging around after their set for the Singaporean metalcore mainstays.

While we will be trying to catch as many bands as we can, we will not be missing Sweet Mullet. The post-hardcore, alternative rock veterans of Thailand are sure to put on a sickeningly amazing show and we want to bear witness.

RASUNDAY

Day Two- Sunday 15th of September

Now this is the day we are going to be spreading ourselves thin because as a publication that covers Asia Pacific metalcore and adjacent genres- Sunday is STACKED. Opening the day for us will funnily enough be NOPEN- taking us back to the Machine Stage. Prog rock fused with some nasty, heavy core music- this is going to be a set for the books. Following them will be a big decision. Defying Decay or Carry On. We don’t know. You decide.

The plan is also to catch Vietnam’s Cut Lon and Thailands own G6PD as well, but you will definitely catch us getting down to The Creation of Adam over on the Machine Stage. Speaking from experience too, if you have not checked out Indonesia’s Down For Life, then we suggest you make your way back to the Factory Stage to catch them. Intense, heavy and diabolically talented, this band will blow your mind.

To take us towards the end of the night, you know we will be checking out a huge double feature from two of Thailand’s hottest exports in hardcore and metalcore over on the Factory Stage. That’s right- Whispers and ANNALYNN.

These are just some of our bands that we plan to try and check out while we are covering Rock Alarm.

Let us know your plans or which bands that we did not mention, that we should check out! It’s going to be a wild weekend so strap yourselves in and as always, if you see us, come say hi.

(We got stickers)

Tickets are still available here for Rock Alarm.
Get on them quick.
