Every now and then, a release comes along that hooks you immediately. Right now, for us, that track is the new single by Sydney progressive metalcore act Repriever.

Their latest drop ‘Fragile’ is a broodingly heavy offering. Drenched with an almost sultry mood with haunting riffs, this atmospheric song slowly washes over you. It has that oh so addictive nu-metal vocal styles, while pulling from a wide range of progressive, doom and metalcore inspired sounds- showing the band’s diverse sonic palette.

‘Fragile‘ follows Repriever‘s previous extended release Fracture, signifying yet another development and maturing in the band’s sound. It’s their first release written, recorded, mixed and mastered entirely in-house in-house. Lyrically, it explores depression, written from the prospective of vocalist Cameron Little‘s own struggles with mental health and depression.

Over the past few years, Repriever have been building solid name for themselves within Sydney’s alternative music landscape. Finding their lane and carving out a sound of their own. With the release of their debut EP Idle Minds in 2019, the band had successfully got a foot hold in their local scene. Despite this though, Repreiver did find themselves on hiatus for awhile before returning with the earlier mentioned sophomore EP Fracture earlier this year. That period of downtime proved fruitful though, ultimately paving the way for a new era.

Since then, the band have been making up for lost time, returning to the stage and sharing bills with some of Australia’s most exciting heavy acts, including Bloom, Virtues, Pyrokinesis and Seek Misery.

With a single like ‘Fracture’ dropping new and a growing presence on the national heavy circuit, it feels like this latest release is the start of another career-defining chapter in this Aussie band’s story.
