Blink and you miss it, May is over already.

Just because the month is over, it doesn’t mean we have to leave the banging releases that got dropped. We scoured the Asia-Pacific to find five tracks from five different countries with a variety of feels to add to your new music playlists.

So let’s get moving.

1. ovENOLA- ‘Closer Than The End’ feat. Faizal Permana of 510

Let’s kick off today with a little Japanese deathcore, shall we! ovENOLA have been ramping up their activity and putting on Japan’s talented deathcore scene on full display. This new single is as every bit brutal as it is unpredictable. Faizal Permana‘s feature adds an extra layer that creates a nice complexity to.

2. EXTAZYth- ‘MEMORIES REMAIN’ FT. WITCH HELLMOSPHERE

Thai hardcore is such a hot place right now that even the bands who haven’t been active lately are returning. After thirteen years, Thai hardcore band EXTAZYth are back with a vengeance, showing yet another example of the quality of music that is coming out of the country. This track is also from their new EP Etched Memory that is out now.

3. Akira Slide- ‘Cobalt

In this animated offering, South Australia’s very own Akira Slide have returned with the melancholic post-hardcore release ‘Cobalt’. With the obvious J-Rock inspiration, this track could easy be right at home as an anime OP. Pretty and haunting, Akira Slide continue to impress.

4. KOSMIK- Waging War

Okay, this is a whole EP we are going to recommend here. Some good ole metallic hardcore straight out of Malaysia, Kosmik are back to get you two-stepping everywhere you go with this one. Riffs that are metal as hell with some steezy hardcore breakdowns, the whole Waging War EP rips.

5. DEAD BOY – ‘DeAd DreAm

Ready for some Visual Kei from…South Korea. That’s right, the Visual Kei scene is constantly growing outside of Japan, and DEAD BOY are another example of this. Their debut release ‘DeAd DreAm’ is a real solid blend of old school electronics with furiously punky riffs. Basically, they embody exactly what the essence of Vkei is about; whatever the fuck you want and looking theatrical as hell doing it. We can’t wait to see more from DEAD BOY in the future.

That is our May wrap-up.
